In October 2025 when I arrived in Bears Ears for my residency, storms were brewing. The rain fell and winds were unpredictable. I don't know that tornados are a frequent occurance in Bears Ears, but a couple of them were experienced on the reservation, damaging only a couple structures and without injuries to humans as far as I know. The sky full of red rock and anger was painted colorful with the storms.
