Butler Wash Ruins is one of many ruins and a cliff dwellings found in every part of the sacred Bears Ears lands. This ruin was built and occupied by the Ancestral Puebloans, about 1200 AD. Located in a side canyon of Butler Wash, on the east side of Comb Ridge, I wanted to capture what it must have felt like to live on such a towering canyon side overlooking the cottonwoods in the wash.
This piece is part of my solo show "Landscape Holds Memory" on exhibit November 13, 2026 to January 8, 2027 at the Sears Art Museum Eccles Grand Foyer Gallery in St. George Utah.
