In Hunting the Tall Grass, I wanted to capture the intensity that exists just before a coyote springs into action. Hidden among the autumn grasses, the coyote moves with patience and purpose, relying on instinct and the cover of the landscape. It is a moment of complete focus, where every sound and movement matters.
Coyotes (and foxes both) use their hearing and sense of vibration to hunt in snow, soft ground or tall grass. Their uncanny ability to find their next meal is interesting to watch. The wild is built on balance, where survival depends on respect for the rhythms of nature. Even in the stillness, there is life, anticipation, and the enduring spirit of the untamed West. Thank you to Lynn Lynch for her great coyote photos that I used as reference.
